Insulated Patio Roofs in Miami, FL
Aluminio Milan designs and installs insulated aluminum patio roofs that block heat and rain, so your patio stays comfortable through Miami summers.

What is an insulated patio roof?
An insulated patio roof is made of panels with an insulating foam core between two aluminum skins. Unlike a thin metal sheet, the panel does not turn into a heat radiator in the afternoon sun. The result is a covered area that feels noticeably cooler and stays completely dry when it rains.
The panels rest on an aluminum frame of posts and beams. The roof can attach to the house or stand on its own, and it can be finished underneath with a smooth white surface or a wood-look WPC or PVC ceiling.
Why insulated panels work so well in Miami
- Heat: the insulated core blocks much of the heat that a thin roof would pass down to you.
- Rain: a solid roof with a slight slope and a gutter keeps the patio dry during daily summer storms.
- Noise: insulated panels are quieter than thin metal when it rains.
- Low maintenance: aluminum does not rot or rust, and the panels only need an occasional rinse.
- Built-in extras: lights and ceiling fans can be wired through the structure.
Insulated roof, pergola or solid aluminum roof?
If you want filtered light and air, an open aluminum pergola may be enough. If you want to use the patio at noon or when it rains, an insulated roof is usually the better choice. A thin solid aluminum roof keeps the rain out but gets much hotter underneath.
| Open pergola | Solid aluminum roof | Insulated roof | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shade | Filtered | Full | Full |
| Rain protection | No | Yes | Yes |
| Heat under the roof | Low (open air) | Higher | Lower |
| Best for | Gardens, pool edges | Light covers, carports | Daily use, attached to the house |

Where insulated roofs are used
Our clients use insulated roofs to cover back patios, extend a lanai, shade an outdoor kitchen, create a covered dining area by the pool and build carports. We make each one to measure, with the size, color, slope and extras your project needs.
Permits and wind requirements
A permanent patio roof usually needs a building permit, and in Miami-Dade and Broward the structure must meet the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone requirements of the Florida Building Code. Many communities also require HOA approval. We review what your project may need during the estimate; our permit guide explains the process.
How to get started
Send us photos of the patio and the back wall of the house, the approximate size you want to cover, and whether you want lights, fans or a wood-look ceiling. We prepare a 3D design and a free estimate, and review what the permit may need for your address. If your community has an HOA, the same 3D design can go with your approval request, so the board sees exactly how the roof will look on your home.
Frequently asked questions
Does an insulated roof really make the patio cooler?
Yes. The insulating core blocks much of the heat that a thin roof would transfer, so the area underneath feels noticeably cooler on sunny days.
Can an insulated roof attach to my house?
Yes, in most cases it can be attached to the wall or the roof edge. We check the house structure during the estimate.
Can I add lights and fans?
Yes. Recessed lights and ceiling fans can be planned into the structure.
Can I have a wood-look ceiling under the panels?
Yes. WPC or PVC cladding can be installed under the roof for a warm wood finish.
Do you install insulated roofs outside Miami?
Yes. We work throughout Florida, including Broward, Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Naples, Tampa and Orlando.
